With Aerosmith, they ended up with twice as many hits after 1980 as they had in the 70's heyday, so one would figure the general consumer would go for a collection with both Dream On AND Janie's Got A Gun, Walk This Way AND Dude Looks Like A Lady, but yet for the most part, they still go for the originalWell in Europe Aerosmith peaked later, but in the US (although they had big hits in the 80's/90's) I believe their classic 70's era is very much considered their peak.I live in America.
I suppose many go for the original single disc compilation instead of the comprehensive double disc.well, with Journey and Def Leppard, the scenarios are different IMO, since the original Greatest Hits and Vault albums were released after both artists had pretty much peaked as hitmakers and only had occasional hits afterwards that their GH cd's for the most part are perfect with the exception of a few missing smaller hits. Ultimate Aerosmith Hits", that the original Greatest Hits still sells the most, even though Oh Yeah has more than three times the material and contains all of the big 80's and 90's hitsSame with Def Leppard's Vault outselling Rock Of Ages, Journey's GH outselling The Essential and the Eagles GH 1971-1975 still selling well (though not outselling The Very Best Of).
